Russian Agriculture Ministry against full cooperation with TurkeyStaff Writer | July 8, 2016
Russia’s Agriculture Ministry opposes resumption of Turkish food imports to Russia to the full extent.
Food dispute Moscow needs to be prudent
"We’re against resumption of relations in the full extent regarding food supplies," he said when commenting a potential return to cooperation with Turkey in this area.
According to Gromyko, Russia’s agriculture sector received a certain impetus to development after Turkish food supplies were restricted.
"It is necessary to be prudent (when resuming supplies - TASS) in the agricultural sector. We just received a certain signal that made local agricultural businesses aware of the development strategy," he said. Starting January 1, 2016 Russia imposed a ban on imports of a number of agricultural products from Turkey.
On June 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin set a task for the government to negotiate resumption of cooperation in trade and other sectors with Turkey. ■
