In addition to fruit producers, the demonstration also attracted vegetable and pork producers. The protest was organized by the Association of Polish Potato and Vegetable Growers.

According to local media, around 2,000 people took part in the protest.

This week, the Association of Polish Fruit Growers, also called on Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for an "immediate reaction" to the "dramatic situation of fruit farmers caused by catastrophically low fruit prices".

The problem mostly concerns the discrepancy of prices from farm to market for raspberries, apples, cherries, and other soft fruits.

A grower gets around 1.2 to 1.75 zloty ($0.32 to $0.47) per kilogram of raspberries, while the retail price is as high as 30 zloty. A purchase price for a kilogram of potatoes is 0.2 zloty, while the retail price is around 2 zloty.

The purchase price of cherries is around 0.7 zloty, while the retail price is about 15 zloty.
