Domestic milk intake down 7.8% in Ireland

Domestic milk intake by creameries and pasteurisers in Ireland was estimated at 264.8 million litres for February 2017.

This was 7.8% below the corresponding 2016 figure. Comparing the February 2017 milk produce figures with those for February 2016 shows that total milk sold for human consumption decreased by 4.9 % to 39.4 million litres.

Butter production was down 11.5 % to 8,200 tonnes.
