Dairy farmers in south west UK invited to 'make the most of your maize crop' event

Dairy farmers from across the South West UK are invited to attend a specialist open day next month which aims to provide guests with the advice and practical support needed to help them maximise their maize yields.

The Maize Growers Open Day is hosted by animal feed company ForFarmers and will enable local farmers to identify which hybrid maize varieties are best suited to their farm location, soil type and circumstances.

In order to gauge how well different maize varieties perform in local conditions, guests will have the opportunity to examine plots of hybrid maize varieties from KWS, Limagrain and Pioneer. Technical experts will also be on hand to walk farmers around the maize plots and answer any queries that farmers have regarding the performance of each maize variety, as well as provide practical advice on agronomy techniques to improve yields.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday September 25 at the Appley Croft, Stawley, near Wellington, TA21 0HJ, between 10am and 3pm. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
