Agricultural trade between Russia and Belarus dropped 22 percent to $5 billion in 2015, Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said.

Despite the difficult economic situation, Russia exported agricultural products and foodstuff worth 17 billion dollars in 2015, which was five times more than a decade ago.
Currently, Russia can meet its own needs in a number of important products, including grain, oil and sugar.
Moreover, for the first time in years, Russia managed to exceed the threshold for the doctrine of food safety of meat in 2015. The share of domestic meat production has reached 87 percent of the market, Tkachev said. ■
