May 26, 2008, Berlin, Germany - Air Berlin PLC announced that industry veteran Wolfgang Kurth will be joining the board of directors, effective June 1 2008.

After studying engineering, Mr. Kurth began his career at Deutsche Lufthansa in 1977. Just two years later Mr. Kurth was appointed as manager industrial engineering at the Hapag Lloyd charter airline, where he was promoted to technical director in 1982 and managing director in 1990. From 2001 Mr. Kurth was a member of the divisional board at TUI AG, where he was responsible for six European airlines. The following year Mr. Kurth took over as manager of the newly established lowcost carrier Hapag Lloyd Express. From July 2007 to March 2008 Mr. Kurth was managing director at the Munich-based airline dba and played an instrumental part in that company’s rapid and smooth integration in the Air Berlin Group. Mr. Kurth will be responsible for the entire technical area of the Air Berlin Group, an area that has been brought to-gether under the umbrella of "Air Berlin Technik Ltd.".
