Weir CEO Keith Cochrane to step down
Following a number of years at Arthur Andersen, Mr. Cochrane joined Stagecoach Group plc in 1993. He became the Group’s Finance Director in 1996 and Chief Executive in 2000. He joined Scottish Power plc in 2003 and served as Director of Group Finance before his appointment to The Weir Group PLC.
Mr. Cochrane is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2016 for services to business in Scotland. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE).
Mr. Cochrane is the Senior Non-Executive Director of Carillion plc and the UK government Lead Non-Executive Director for the Scotland Office and Office of the Advocate General.
He will step down from the Board at the end of September, and will remain on hand to assist until the end of December 2016, when his employment with the Company will end.
The Company announces the appointment of Jon Stanton as Chief Executive designate, succeeding Mr. Cochrane with effect from 1 October 2016.
Mr. Stanton was formerly a partner with Ernst & Young LLP having joined as a graduate trainee in their Birmingham office in 1988. He was appointed as a partner in their London office in 2001 with lead responsibility for the audit of a number of FTSE 100 multinational clients.
Mr. Stanton is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. ■
