VimpelCom Russia CEO Mikhail Slobodin stepped down
Since September 2013, Mr. Slobodin has served as CEO of PJSC “VimpelCom”. From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Slobodin was an Executive Vice-president of Strategy and Business Development of OJSC TNK-BP Management.
From 2001 to 2011, he held various key positions including General Director/President of CJSC Integrated Energy Systems (2003-2011), President of OJSC Russian Utility Systems (2005-2008); Vice-president for Energy/ Director of Power Engineering Business Development Department of OJSC TNK-BP Management (2003-2004), Director of Power Engineering Business Development Department of OJSC Tyumen Oil Company (2002-2003).
He served as First Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of OJSC Irkutskenergo (2001-2002), Director of Regional Development of CJSC Renova (2000-2001), Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of OJSC Nizhny Tagil Smelter (1999-2000), Head of Economics and Analysis Department of CJSC Renova (1999-1999) and Deputy Head of Finance and Economics Department of OJSC SUAL (1998-1999).
Mr. Slobodin graduated from the Urals State University in 1993.
Kjell Johnsen, Head of Major Markets, will lead VimpelCom’s business in Russia with immediate effect.
Mr. Johnsen has extensive experience in the country and will continue to drive the company’s transformation forward.
Mr. Johnsen joined VimpelCom to lead VimpelCom’s Major Markets in August 2016 and has international expertise in senior roles across a variety of industries, with responsibility for markets such as Russia, Scandinavia, and Central and Eastern Europe. ■
