Ulrik Svensson named new CFO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG
Mr. Svensson is currently Chief Executive Officer of Melker Schörling AB (MSAB), a position he has held since 2006. Mr. Svensson serves on the supervisory boards or the boards of directors and as chair of the audit committees of five of these companies and of Flughafen Zürich AG, the Zurich airport authority.
Prior to his present CEO position, he served as Managing Director Finance and CFO of Swiss International Air Lines from 2003 to 2006, and was instrumental in the company’s turnaround and its acquisition by the Lufthansa Group.
Mr. Svensson worked from 1992 to 2000 in senior finance positions in the two related telecom companies Millicom and Société Européenne de Communication S.A. based in Luxembourg. From 2000 to 2003 he was CFO of the British office product provider Esselte.
Mr. Svensson graduated in business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. He succeeds Simone Menne, who, by agreement with the Executive and Supervisory Boards, will leave the company on 31 August 2016.
For the interim period between Ms. Menne’s departure and Mr. Svensson’s assumption of his new duties, Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board & CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, will head the company’s Finance division in addition to his CEO duties. ■
