TNK-BP: CEO Mikhail M. Fridman resigns

Mikhail M. FridmanTNK-BP Ltd., an oil company, announces that Mikhail M. Fridman has submitted a letter of resignation to TNK-BP Ltd.’s board of directors, notifying his resignation from the position of chief executive officer of the TNK-BP Group.
Mikhail Fridman has also sent TNK-BP shareholders a letter of resignation from the position of Chairman of the Management Board of TNK-BP Management, a Russian subsidiary of TNK-BP Group which manages the Company’s assets in Russia and Ukraine, including the publicly traded TNK-BP Holding. Both resignations take effect in 30 days.

Mr. Fridman has been the Chief Executive Officer of Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding since February 2011. He serves as an Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer of TNK-BP International Ltd. of Varyeganneftegaz.

Mr. Fridman served as the President of Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding until December 31, 2010. He served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of TNK-BP Ltd.

Mr. Fridman founded Alfa Group Consortium in 1989. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding until December 31, 2009.

He served as an Interim Chief Executive Officer of Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding from May 2009 to June 2009.

Mr. Fridman served as the Chief Executive Officer of TNK-BP Ltd.

In 1988, Mr. Fridman co-founded "Alfa -Foto" cooperative.

He served as an Engineer at "Elektrostal" metallurgical works from 1986 to 1988.

Mr. Fridman has built Alfa Group into a market leader in Banking, Energy, Telecommunications and Retail.

His strategies of acquisition, growth and integration have made Alfa Group among the most attractive partners for international investment in Russia.

Since 1989, Mr. Fridman has taken an active part in the formation of Alfa Group, which includes Alfa Finance Holdings S.A. (Alfa Bank, Alfa Capital Holdings Limited, and Medpoint Limited), Alfa -Eco Holdings Limited and ZAO Trade House Perekriostok.

He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa Finance Holdings S.A.

Mr. Fridman serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Alfa Group Consortium.

He served as Executive Chairman of Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding.

He served as Chairman of the Board of Alfa Bank until February 2008.

He serves as a Member of the Boards of Directors of Alfa Finance Holdings SA and OJSC "TNK" and TNK-BP Ltd.

He served as Director of TNK-BP Holding from January 2009 to June 30, 2010.

He serves as Director of Alfa Group. He has been Member of Supervisory Board of X5 Retail Group N.V. since May 18, 2006.

He serves as Member of the Supervisory board of Directors of Crown Commodities and Alfa Estate and has been Member of Supervisory Board at VimpelCom Ltd since April 2011.

He has been Director Alfa Bank since February 2008.

Mr. Fridman serves as a Member of the International Advisory Board of the Council on Foreign Relations, Inc.

He serves as a Director at ABH Holdings Corp.

He served as a Director at Open Joint-Stock Company TNK-BP Holding from January 2009 to June 2010.

He served as a Director of Tyumen Oil Company.

Mr. Fridman served as a Member of Supervisory Board of Pyaterochka Holding N.V. since May 12, 2006.

He is a Member of the Bureau of the Management Board of the Russian Council of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and oversees judicial issues.

In November 2005, Mr. Fridman was elected to Russia’s Public Chamber.

His achievements have been recognised by prestigious international publications and organisations in the world of finance and business.

According to the newspaper Vedomosti, in December 2003, he was awarded the title Businessman of the Year. He was named as one of ”Europe’s Power 25” by FORTUNE in 2004, and was included in the Financial Times list of ”2004 Leaders of the New Europe”.

For his role in the 2003 TNK and BP merger agreement, Mr. Fridman was named one of the outstanding businessmen of the year (international magazine Business Week), together with 25 other business leaders of the new Europe (Financial Times).

In 2003, he was honoured with the Golden Plate Award of the International Academy of Achievement in Washington, presented by former US President Bill Clinton.

Mr. Fridman started out in business while still a student at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys.

He graduated with M.S with honors in Engineering from the Faculty of Non -ferrous Metals of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1986.
