Tesoro promotes Keith Casey to EVP, marketing & commercial
Prior to his current role, Mr. Casey was Executive Vice President, Operations, where he oversaw Tesoro’s Refining; Marketing; Logistics and Environment, Health, Safety &Security groups.
Mr. Casey joined Tesoro in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, bringing significant industry experience to drive strategic growth for the organization.
Prior to joining Tesoro, Mr. Casey served as Vice President, BP Products North America at the Texas City Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States. He also has held roles with Motiva Enterprises, Shell and Praxair.
Mr. Casey has received the prestigious Boy Scouts Golden Eagle Award for the Bay Area Council, and in 2010 was inducted into the Texas Labor Movement Hall of Fame.
Mr. Casey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Cynthia CJ Warner, EVP, Strategy & Business Development, will become EVP, Operations.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Warner served as Tesoro’s Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, where she led the Company’s strategic growth initiatives.
She joined the Company in 2014, bringing more than 30 years of experience in energy, oil refining and marketing, and related technology development.
Prior to Tesoro, Ms. Warner held executive leadership roles at several global energy companies. Most recently, she was Chairman and CEO of Sapphire Energy from 2012 to 2014, after joining as President in 2009, where she led the emerging biofuels company’s ongoing technology development and transition to commercial-scale algae bio mass and renewable crude oil production.
Prior to Sapphire Energy, Ms. Warner served as Group Vice President of Global Refining and Group Vice President of Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Technology for British Petroleum (BP).
During her 10-year tenure, she oversaw refining operations in five continents and led a cooperative effort with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to shape an industry-wide framework for clean air improvements.
Ms. Warner began her career as a chemical engineer at UOP, followed by several years in operational leadership roles at Amoco.
In addition to Tesoro, Ms. Warner serves as Chairman of the Board for Sapphire Energy, a position she has held since 2010, and as a member of the Board of Directors for IDEX Corporation. She is also a member of the National Petroleum Council and President Obama’s National Clean Energy Policy advisory body.
Ms. Warner earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Illinois Institute of Technology.
In addition to his current responsibilities, Steven Sterin, EVP, Chief Financial Officer, will become EVP, Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Development, also assuming corporate development in support of the Company's growth plans.
Mr. Sterin is also Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for Tesoro Logistics GP, LLC.
Mr. Sterin joined Tesoro in 2014, bringing more than 15 years of financial leadership in the chemicals industry to his role.
Prior to Tesoro, Mr. Sterin was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty material company, for seven years. During this time, he was also President of Celanese’s Advanced Fuel Technologies business.
Mr. Sterin joined Celanese in 2003 as Director of Finance and Controller for the company’s chemical business and also served as Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer before being appointed CFO.
Prior to Celanese, Mr. Sterin spent six years with global chemicals company Reichhold in a variety of financial positions, including Director of Tax and Treasury in the Netherlands, Global Treasurer and Vice President of Finance for one of the company’s divisions in North Carolina.
Mr. Sterin holds a Master of Professional Accounting degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting, which he earned concurrently at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a certified public accountant in Texas. ■
