TECO Energy CEO John Ramil to retire
Mr. Ramil was named to the company's board of directors in January 2008. He joined Tampa Electric in March 1976 as a cooperative education student. In his four decades with the company, he has held a variety of leadership positions, including in engineering, operations, finance and environmental.
Mr. Ramil received his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and honorary Doctorate degrees in Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF). In 1999, he was named USF's Distinguished Alumnus.
In 2001, Mr. Ramil was appointed to USF's inaugural board of trustees, and he is currently the longest-serving trustee. He served for four years as chairman, until 2014. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
Previously, Mr. Ramil served on the boards of Enterprise Florida, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Committee of 100, InRoads Tampa Bay, the Southeastern Electric Exchange and the Florida Electric Power Coordinating Group. ■
