Sprouts Farmers Market executive chairman to resign
Mr. Sanders has served as executive chairman of the board since August 2015, and as a member of our board of directors since February 2015.
Mr. Sanders served as President and Chief Executive Officer of our company from August 2012 to August 2015.
He joined Sprouts upon its founding in 2002 and served in roles of increasing responsibility, including President, President and Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Vice President of Information Technology.
Prior to joining Sprouts, Mr. Sanders held a number of management positions in Operations and Technology within companies in the grocery industry, including TCI Solutions, Associated Wholesale Grocers and Brookshire Brothers.
He attended the Stephen F. Austin State University.
The Board has appointed Joseph Fortunato, an Independent Director, as the Non-Executive Chairman Of The Board from February 20, 2017.
Mr. Fortunato has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2013.
Mr. Fortunato currently serves as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of GNC Holdings, and he was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GNC Holdings from June 2005 until November 2005.
From 1990 to June 2005, Mr. Fortunato served in various executive roles with General Nutrition Companies including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of Retail Operations and Store Development, Senior Vice President of Financial Operations, and Director of Financial Operations.
Mr. Fortunato currently serves on the board of directors of KUE Management and on the board of directors of Mattress Firm Holding Corp.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Finance at Duquesne University in 1975. ■
