Gazprom elects chairman and deputy chairman of its new board

Viktor ZubkovGazprom, an energy company, elected Viktor Zubkov as chairman of the Gazprom board of directors and Alexey Miller as deputy chairman of the company's board of directors.

Mr. Zubkov headed a number of agro-industrial enterprises and specialized departments of local authorities in the Leningrad Oblast.

Mr. Zubkov served as Deputy Head of the External Relations Committee of the Saint Petersburg Mayor Office (1992–1993); Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Tax Service – Head of the Saint Petersburg State Tax Inspection (1993–1999), and Deputy Minister for Taxes and Levies of the Russian Federation – Head of the Saint Petersburg Department of the Russian Federation Ministry for Taxes and Levies (1999–2001).

From 2001 to 2004, he served as First Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation, Acting Chairman of the Russian Financial Monitoring Committee, and Head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service from 2004 to 2007.

Mr. Zubkov also was Prime Minister of the Russian Federation (2007–2008) and First Deputy Prime Minister the Russian Federation (2008–2012).

He was Russian Special Presidential Representative for Cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Chairman of the Management Committee and Director General of Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo (2012–2014).

Since 2014 Mr. Zubkov serves as Russian Special Presidential Representative for Cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum. He is Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors since 2008.

Mr. Zubkov graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Leningrad Agricultural Institute.

Mr. Miller graduated from Voznesensky Leningrad Finance and Economics Institute and holds a PhD in Economics.

Upon graduation, Mr. Miller was engineer-economist at the General planning division of Leningrad Civil Construction Research and Design Institute (LenNIIproekt under the Executive Committee of the Leningrad City Council).

In 1990, he was Junior researcher, Leningrad Finance and Economics Institute; Section Head, Economic Reform Committee, Executive Committee of the Leningrad City Council.

From 1991 to 1996 Mr. Miller was Head of the Markets Monitoring Division, Foreign Economic Relations Directorate, External Relations Committee of St. Petersburg Mayor’s Office; Head of the Foreign Economic Relations Directorate; Deputy Chairman of the External Relations Committee.

From 1996 to 1999 he served as Director for Development and Investments, Sea Port of St. Petersburg, and as Director General of Baltiyskaya Truboprovodnaya Sistema (Baltic Pipeline System) from 1999 to 2000.

In 2000 Mr. Miller was appointed as Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation. Since 2001 he serves as Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom and as Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors since 2002.
