FedEx: Douglas G. Duncan to retire

Douglas G. DuncanFedEx announced that the president and CEO of its freight unit Douglas G. Duncan will retire on February 28, 2010.

Mr. Duncan also serves on the Strategic Management Committee of FedEx Corporation. In addition to the LTL companies, Mr. Duncan oversees strategic direction of FedEx Custom Critical, North America’s largest time-specific, critical shipment carrier; and Caribbean Transportation Services, the leading provider of airfreight forwarding services between the United States and Puerto Rico. Before the formation of FedEx Freight, Mr. Duncan served for two years as president and chief executive officer of Viking Freight.

With 30 years of transportation experience, Mr. Duncan has held management positions in operations, sales and marketing with Caliber System and Roadway Express. Mr. Duncan serves on the executive committee of the American Trucking Associations and as chairman of the American Transportation Research Institute. Mr. Duncan graduated from Christopher Newport University, where he serves on the Board of Visitors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Benchmark Electronics, Inc.
