CoreSite Realty CEO Tom Ray to retire

CoreSite RealtyCoreSite Realty, a data center company, announced that its president and CEO Tom Ray is retiring and that it has appointed Paul Szurek as president and CEO.

Mr. Ray has been responsible for CoreSite's activities since its founding in 2001. Prior to the initial public offering of CoreSite, he also served as a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group.

Mr. Ray has over 25 years of experience making and managing investments and businesses throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining Carlyle, he held roles of increasing responsibility with the Security Capital Group of companies (ProLogis, CarrAmerica and predecessors to Archstone-Smith). Prior to that, he practiced real estate and transactional law.

Mr. Ray received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School of Business, where he was a Longhorn Scholar. He received a J.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law and a B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from the University of Denver, where he was a Hornbeck Scholar.

Mr. Szurek has served as a CoreSite director since September 2010. He has been Chief Financial Officer of Biltmore Farms since 2003. Prior to joining Biltmore Farms, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Security Capital Group Incorporated.

Mr. Szurek was promoted to CFO of Security Capital in 1997, where he supported the company from its IPO, through its acquisition by GE Real Estate in 2002.

Mr. Szurek received a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Government, magna cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin.
