COO Niklas Sonkin to leave Tele2
Mr. Sonkin joined Tele2 AB in 2009 and has since then been responsible for developing the company’s operations outside of Sweden and the Netherlands. In October 2015, he assumed the position as COO of Tele2.
Mr. Sonkin serves as Market Area Director of Kazakhstan & Germany at Tele2 AB (publ). He served as Acting CTIO and Executive Vice President of Central Europe & Eurasia at Tele2 AB (publ) until October 15, 2015 and also served as Market Area Director of Eurasia.
He served as the Chief Strategy Officer at TeliaSonera Finland Oyj (Formerly Sonera Corporation) since April 25, 2001. He served as an Executive Vice President and Market Area Director of Central Europe & Eurasia at Tele2 AB since April 2009.
Mr. Sonkin joined TeliaSonera Finland Oyj in 1988 and served as its Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy since September 1, 2000. He held senior positions at TeliaSonera AB.
He served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Wataniya Telecom. He served as Director of B2B at Wataniya Telecom, and as a Director at QPR Software Oyj.
Mr. Sonkin holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering.
Mr. Sonkin will leave the company September 2, but will remain as Chairman of the Board of Tele2’s JV operation in Kazakhstan, Khan Tengri Holding B.V. and Board member of Mobile Telecoms-Service LLP.
Fredrik Stenberg, currently Director of Customer Operations and member of the Shared Operations Leadership Team, will assume the position as acting COO. ■
