Amec Foster Wheeler non-executive director to step down
Mr. Carson, a non-executive director, will also step down from his roles of Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and member of the Audit and Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Ethics (HSSEE) Committees.
Mr. Carson was Chief Executive of Johnson Matthey Plc, the FTSE 100 speciality chemical company, from 2004 to June 2014 and stepped down as a member of the board in September 2014.
He joined the company in 1980 after completing an engineering degree and held a number of senior management positions in both the UK and the US, including Managing Director of Catalysts & Chemicals from 1999 to 2004 and Division Director of Catalytic Systems from 1997 to 1999.
In July 2014, Mr. Carson became a non-executive director of PayPoint plc, where he also serves as chairman of the remuneration committee and senior independent director. In May 2015, he joined the board of TT Electronics plc as Chairman.
He is currently Honorary President of the Society for Chemical Industry (SCI) and co-chair of the Chemistry Growth Partnership, which is working with the government to stimulate growth in the industry in the United Kingdom.
In June 2016, he was awarded an OBE for services to the Chemical Industry in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Mr. Carson was previously a founding member of the Prince of Wales’ Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change.
He received an engineering degree from Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University) and has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University. ■
