Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom - a strange new device
The Galaxy S4 zoom is the realization of Samsung's dream to create one device that can fulfill the role of both a leading smartphone and a high-end camera.
Combining 10x Optical Zoom, 16 Mega Pixel CMOS Sensor, OIS and Xenon Flash with the very latest Samsung Galaxy S4 technology, the Galaxy S4 is... well, it is technically cool but we are not sure is it ugly or unbeliavable ugly. It's not just different, it is a combination of two great things mixed in... something. Samsung invented phablets but we doubt that this idea will sell like crazy.
Now, let's take a brief look at technical specifications. Zoom has 8GB internal memory (approximately 5GB for user data) and microSD slot for up to 64GB, it works on LTE and 3G networks, processor is 1.5GHz dual-core, is has all connectivity options you need, and accelerometer, geomagnetic, proximity, gyro, and RGB light sensors.
Galaxy S4 zoom fetures Zoom Ring, a simple way to access the its key features. When you are in the middle of a phone call and you see something you have to share, a quick twist of the Zoom Ring will activate the In-Call Photo Share feature, letting you capture and send an image directly via MMS to whoever you are talking to simply.
The compact Galaxy S4 zoom's 10x Optical Zoom and 16MP BSI CMOS Sensor lets you capture images from far away or up close and personal, in all light conditions. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) helps keep the camera perfectly still.
Photo Suggest instantly connects you to huge libraries of images taken by other photographers and Photo Suggest can even direct you to the ideal nearby location for that perfect photo.
The Galaxy S4 zoom also features Samsung's Smart Mode. Simply choose from a series of pre-set modes and the camera will automatically adjust to ensure you capture the best photo possible. If you aren't sure which Smart Mode to select, the Smart Mode Suggest feature can assess the scene for you and provide a list of the best options based on light levels, focal length, or face detection.
Running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2, the Galaxy S4 zoom boasts many of the same features as the Galaxy S4, including Touchwiz.
Story Album lets you arrange your images and videos into one timeline to share with friends. You can also edit images and even order prints directly from the device through a partnership with blurb service. If you'd rather transfer your images to your laptop or tablet for safe keeping, Samsung Link is a tool for that, or you can sync all of your data in your own cloud through HomeSync. ■
