New small amplifier from Roland is useful little thing which can be connected to many sources: from MP3 players to microphone to electric guitar.
The new Mobile Cube amplifier is a very interesting device that will find its customers among several types of buyers. Roland Mobile Cube is small, but mighty device. It’s size is similar to a briefcase (280 mm x 108 mm x 177 mm), and its weight is in the range of a business notebook. Mobile Cube uses batteries to word mobile is here with a reason. Since it uses batteries the power is accordingly low, 2.5 W + 2.5 W, but it is enough to drive your wife/husband/neighbour/business partner crazy. That power through 10 cm speakers is enough for you to enjoy the music at reasonable loudness.
An interesting part is Cube’s versatility. You can connect it with MP3 player, microphone, electric guitar, keyboard or drum machine (what a joy!) and listen to the music for 15 hours which is a decent duration considering batteries. You probably already concluded that Mobile Cube is stereo device, and that’s true, and it also has a headphone output which makes your guitar playing more enjoyable for you and less stress for co-listeners. If you are in Japan, be aware that Cube has Center Cancel function, a welcomed function to suppress central channel when a group of businessmen have desire to make a karaoke party.
If you play guitar, as myself do (It’s not playing, it’s torture, says Vesna), you’ll be pleased to know that Roland Mobile Cube has high-quality stereo reverb and chorus effects. You can use Cube’s built-in effects to make your vocal more enjoyable (in my case that doesn’t work), or to add another dimension to the sound of your guitar. The price is around 140 euros in Europe, and if you play guitar or just want to enjoy music from your MP3 player it’s great value for that money.
