About 900 kilometers east of Madagascar, in the southwest Indian Ocean, lies island Mauritius. The first record of the country with an unusual four colors flag comes from Arab and Malay sailors in early tenth century. The Portuguese sailors were the first who visited Mauritius, while Dutch are the first who abandoned it because of tough climatic conditions. After French domination, British gain military control of the island, and in 1965 the United Kingdom split the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius to create the British Indian Ocean Territory. In 1968 Mauritius attained independence and the country become a republic within the Commonwealth in 1992. Today, Mauritius is the business hub of the Indian Ocean, and target for many business opportunities in banking and technology.Section: places-to-go

There is an island close to the Greek soil, but far enough of millions of noisy tourists. It is almost 30 kilometers long, and just six kilometers wide, however at its narrow part it’s just 600 meters from sea to sea. It is known as island where Odysseus was at home, and as “Island good for goats”, if we’re willing to listen Homer’s words. However, we won’t pay attention to the last, because Ithaca is the island on which we’d like to spend our holiday. So close to get to it with boat, yet so far away from noisy places on Greek coast.
