Audi TTS: Why we must wait for the summer?

The new Audi TTS is the top model of TT line. The two-litter beast called TFSI delivers 272 hp, which is enough to catapult that coupe from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

Last year was a very successful year for Four Circles company. Audi AG sold 7.3 percent more cars than in previous year. Company from Ingolstadt can be especially satisfied with the rise of very competitive and demanding European markets. Among broad range of models probably the most interesting one is Audi TT, although it's hard to call any Audi model "an uninteresting one".

The new Audi TTS is the top model of TT line and we'll have a chance to see it at our favourite dealer in the early summer this year. TTS has a "slightly improved" engine. The two-litter beast called TFSI delivers 272 hp, which is enough to catapult that coupe (or roaster, if you choose that model) from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. Audi's new sport car is "designed to appeal to a young and dynamic clientele", as Audi states, and we are sure it will, but hope that young clientele will know what to do with the torque of 350 Nm delivered between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm.

Although the engine is improved, the Audi states that fuel consumption is 8 litres per 100 kilometres, and that is really good even if we take into account the slightly higher consumption outside the factory labs. That's for Coupe with the six-speed manual transmission; the roadster needs 8.2 litres, and both models consume even less if the S tronic dual-clutch transmission is used. Dual-clutch allows very, very quick gear shifts and the time from zero to 100 in that case will be 5 seconds.

All that power is transferred to all wheels via quattro drive, and thanks to a fast hydraulic multi-plate clutch the stability of the new TTS is increased. Of course, there are drivers that will not utilise al the horses under the hood, they can use Standard mode. That means that damping system is adjust for slower and comfortable ride. If the Sport setting is set the car will be 10 millimetres lower, and sport suspension will reveal all the power of the mighty TFSI. And how you stop such beast? With 17-inch, high-performance braking discs. Those were the most basic specifications and we'll stop here because you don't need more information.
