Greece economic sentiment surges to highest level since December 2014
Prospects in the construction sector and industry firmed while consumer confidence improved for the sixth straight month in September, reaching the highest level since July 2015.
“The recovery throughout 2017 is in line with the GDP growth expansions reflects expectations that the growth pace will accelerate at least during the third quarter,” the think tank said.
“Although the index keeps moving considerably lower than the European average, its improvement is worth noting,” it added. The smooth course of the program and the tourism performance, were also cited.
The economic sentiment index settled at 100.6 points in September compared to 99.0 points in August and 98.2 in July.
Consumer confidence sub-index stood at -53.7 vs -61.5 in July. ■
