ON Semiconductor opens facility in Rochester, N.Y.

ON Semiconductor has officially opened its expanded test and assembly facility at Eastman Business Park in Rochester, N.Y.


As part of the expansion, the company plans to create up to 34 new jobs at the facility over the next two years, in addition to 185 jobs that will be retained.

The site develops and manufactures image sensor devices for commercial, industrial and professional imaging applications, including machine vision, surveillance, traffic monitoring, medical and scientific imaging, and photography.

ON Semiconductor is also home to the innovative American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics Headquarters and its Test, Assembly and Packaging facility, which is slated to open later this year.

ON Semiconductor is focused on energy efficient innovations in an effort to reduce global energy use. The company operates a network of manufacturing facilities, sales offices and design centers which are located in key markets throughout North America, Europe, and in the Asia Pacific region.

The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of over 80,000 devices utilized in computing, consumer, industrial, medical and military/aerospace applications.

Custom devices focus on and range in energy efficiency, power management, analog, sensory, logic, timing, and connectivity.

Empire State Development is supporting the company's growth in New York State with a $4.3 million Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative Grant.

The company will also receive $1.7 million through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program in exchange for job creation commitments. The total cost of the project is approximately $6.6 million.

This project builds on and continues the success and rebirth of the Eastman Business Park in Rochester.

EBP, the site where Kodak began manufacturing photographic film and paper more than a century ago, has been revitalized to support the growth of the manufacturing industry throughout the region.

Today, the campus supports more than 100 companies, employing over 6,000 people.

Besides ON Semiconductor and AIM Photonics, businesses such as Kodak, DuPont, SiGNa Chemistry, Harris, Carestream, Columbia Care, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, LiDestri Food & Drink, Love Beets, and Acquest Development all call EBP home.
